As a person who has received and experienced nothing but kindness, grace and mercy from God, it's unconscionable that I should be harsh, disrespectful or unmerciful towards anyone. I need to not only repent & ask God's forgiveness when I am guilty of that, but also to apologise & ask the forgiveness of anyone I treat that way.

In this particular debate, my experience and observation is that a Christian's manner, empathy and tact have little to do with the level of offense and nausea felt by those who disagree with said Christian's view of marriage, and with said Christian's opposition to legislated gay marriage as a citizen of Australia.
